Top Tips for Adopting a Puppy

With the doggie population that is growing every minute, if you have decided to adopt a puppy then you are up for a very good deed. There are millions of dogs who are surviving in unfavorable conditions and waiting for the right parent to adopt them. If you are planning to buy a puppy, you should reconsider and think of adopting one. This is because not only would you save on buying a puppy buy you are also giving home to a homeless defenseless puppy that is being mistreated and uncared for in crowded shelters.

A puppy adoption can also give you the right mix breed of the puppy. If you are adopting a pure breed puppy then you would have to be careful about the hereditary diseases. This is one of the reasons many avoid buying pure breed puppies and go for a mix breed puppies. When you go for adoption, you would most of the time find a variety of mix breed puppies than pure bred puppy.

You are also helping the dog population as well by providing a dog a home and keeping them out of harm’s way.

If you are a first time pet owner, you will have to know certain things about bringing a pet home. There are certain factors that you have to keep in mind. The most important of all is that when you are adopting a puppy, you are adding a responsibility to your house hold. You need to make sure that this responsibility is fulfilled and your puppy is well taken care of. You can start by making space for your puppy in your house. This can be a basket filled with cushions at the corner of your room. You should ensure that there are no sharp objects nearby or anything with which the puppy can hurt itself with.

Also you need to make sure that your puppy is getting his shots on time. This means that you will have to make sure that you know a veterinarian or at least look up a veterinarian. Also you need to take constant care of the puppy. Therefore make sure that you are fitting the care for the puppy into your schedule. You have to ensure that you are giving your puppy its meals on time and also taking it out for walks etc. If you are too busy to do so then you should make sure that someone else is doing this for you.

There are many complications to adoptions if you don’t prepare yourself beforehand. Once you have adopted a puppy, make sure that you take it to the veterinary clinic first. This will ensure that your puppy is free from disease. Also you should remember that it will take some time for the puppy to adjust and warm up to your house. Similarly it will take some time for your children especially if they are small to adjust to the puppy. Therefore have some patience and soon you will have another loving member added to your family.

    aw.. i want a finnish spitz puppy but my dad wants a chihuahua but my mom hates animals and doesnt want any as a pet! i want a puppy so bad!!!!!!!!! gotta get out of this house!
