Puppy Training Guide – Some of the Best Puppy Training Tips

Having a dog is like have a best friend. If you trained him in the right way that is. Here's a few tips if you encounter puppy training problems.

1) You should begin to train the puppy early between the age of eight and twelve weeks. At this age they are more receptive to training. The older the dog gets the harder it will become. This is because they have already learned a great deal of things. It is possible to train older dogs too, but its much harder and needs more work, so the sooner you start the training, the better.

2) You should train your dog in a quiet area. The puppy is easily distracted by everything around. So if you have a quiet spot at home or outside, train him/her there.

3) Be patient! A puppy is just that, a puppy, not a child. They do not really understand your words (At leas not in the beginning) so it is very important not to give up.

He will learn sooner or later.

4) You should never yell at the dog, it really doesn't help you in any way. The puppy will just look at you with his big eyes wondering what you are yelling about. Using firm voice is one thing, but yelling is not ok.

5) The best words you should make your puppy used to are such as sit, fetch, stay, down e.tc (You should make sure that all members of your family uses the same words or you will confuse your little pup)

6) You should also get your puppy a toy box, and that box should be filled up with some nice items your dog may chew on. Else he will chew on everything that he isn't allowed too, I speak of experience. Not only are the items good for learning purposes, they also help your dog to have a good teeth, and at younger age it also helps to relax the tension in the teeth, allowing the puppy to be more relaxed.

If you see that your dog is starting to chew on something that is not allowed, pick him up and place him near the toy box and start playing with the items. Soon the dog learns not to chew on things he is not supposed to, IF you stay focused and consistent.

7) If your puppy has an accident in the home what should you do? Well first you should place him in a secure area, like a crate (crate training is by the way one of the best training the is for your dog) and remove the accident. Its important that you get rid of all the smell or there is a great risk the puppy does it again, because the area smells like toilet. Remember dog has a greater sense of smell than we humans do, so ordinary soap and water will not do the trick. If you ask in the local pet shop, they will help you find the right product for you. And remember, never ever punish your dog for the accident! If you see the dog in action, pick him up and take him for a walk.

Yelling and behaving badly afterward (and 1 minute is long time afterward) the dog will not understand what you mean. And some people rub the dogs nose into "the accident" that is just cruelty to the puppy, and it might even make him ashamed to do his needs, even outside. So if you do this to your dog, stop it, right now.

As a final word, if your puppy chews on things he is not allowed, or you find an accident in your home, remember that this can never be the dogs fault. To avoid puppy training problems stay focused on your puppy at all time!

Best Puppy Training Tips

1 - Begin Training Early

Puppies are more receptive to learning between the ages of 8 and 12 weeks, so it's important to begin their training early. If you're training an older dog for the first time it may take a little longer, but despite what they say, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

The following puppy training tips help you and your puppy to become confident during your training sessions.

2 - Find A Quiet Area To Train Your Puppy

Don't attempt to train your puppy if there is too much going on around you - he will become distracted and will not learn. Find a quiet corner where you and your puppy can concentrate on learning.

3 - Be Consistent In Your Approach To Training

Your puppy will be very eager to please you but, at this stage, he may not understand what you want from him. Your instructions and commands must be very clear and consistent.

Choose a short word for each command, for example, sit, stay, come, down, etc., and ensure you and your family are consistent in its use, otherwise your puppy will become confused and will not learn.

4 - Puppy Training Tips - Choose A Release Word

The same applies to your chosen release word.

A release word is literally that; your chosen word for releasing your puppy from a previous command. By using this command, you are letting your puppy know that he no longer needs to sit or stay down, and that he is free to get up and play, or whatever.

The important thing to remember here is to remain consistent with your choice of word and its application.

Using a release word for your dog, will help to establish you as the pack leader and will reinforce this fact each time you release your dog from a previous command.

5 - Practical Puppy Training Tips - Your Tone Of Voice

Puppy training sessions should be kept light, and should be fun for your puppy.

Your tone of voice needs to be firm when giving a command, and lighter, more fun, when giving praise.

6 - Puppy Training Tips - Positive Reinforcement

Each time your puppy does what you ask of him, offer him a small, tasty, treat and give him lots of praise. This will reinforce the fact that he has followed your command correctly.

Your praise, and any treat, should follow his correct action within 2 seconds; any longer and you run the risk of your puppy not associating the two, and he'll take longer to train.

7 - Puppy Training Tips - If Your Puppy Gets It Wrong

Never become angry, scold, or smack your puppy for failing to get an instruction right. It may take several attempts before he understands exactly what you want from him - have patience.

If your puppy gets it wrong, don't give him a treat, and don't offer any praise; simply go back to the beginning and start again. You can say something like, 'Too Bad', or 'No', to help reinforce the fact that your puppy didn't get it right. But don't be too hard on him - he's only learning.

If your puppy misbehaves however, difficult as it may be, don't allow him to get away with being naughty just because he's cute!

8 - If Your Puppy Fails To Follow Your Command

If your puppy fails to follow a command, it may mean that your puppy has not yet mastered that particular instruction. Simply repeat the relevant training until you're confident that he's mastered it.

Don't repeat the command word over and over again, as this will teach your puppy that he doesn't need to act on the first instruction; he will believe it's okay to obey on the third or fourth command.

If you believe your puppy is simply misbehaving, don't reward or praise him, simply walk away from him and try the exercise again five minutes later.

9 - Keep Your Training Sessions Short

Puppies have a short attention span, so it's best to keep any training sessions to around 10 minutes or so. This should be enough to run through some simple commands without your puppy becoming bored.

Always try to end the training session on a positive note.

10 - Best Puppy Training Tips - Practice, Practice, Practice!

Practice really does makes perfect!

As your puppy masters each command, practice daily to strengthen and reinforce the training you have given him. This will help to establish you as the pack leader, will strengthen the bond between you, and will ensure your puppy grows into a happy, well-behaved adult dog.

Many households have pets to take care of their own. The animal pets have become varied to include other exotic species aside from the traditional cat and dog pets, such as snakes, raccoons, even some fearsome species like the alligators and wolves. In other words, people have become accustomed to owning pets because of the gains they get from such, and therefore should take appropriate measures to having an effective pet care.

Before we engage to a proper pet care, we should first determine the behavior of our identified pets. Important care tips for our pets will let us guide towards a convenient and appropriate pet care. Since some of us have domesticated pets, such as cats and dogs, the behavior of these animals is more or less distinguished. Dogs descended from their wild cousins, the wolves, hence they share many traits and one must take into consideration the beast's aggressive behavior. Cats on the other hand are related to lions, tigers, bobcats and similar species and share some traits related to the latter. On the other hand, exotic pets have greater tendencies to inflict danger to pet owners so proper handling should be taken into consideration.

Before we bring our selected pets at home, first, we should identify their basic needs. Some care tips for domesticated pets such as cats and dogs: they need food, food dish, water bowl, interactive toys, litter box, collars (dogs) to name a few. Feeding our pets depends on their age. This is an important thing in our pet's health checklist. Baby pets are given a high-quality brand-name pet food four times a day in small amounts. As much as possible, generic brands should be avoided. Adults, specially large ones are feed one or two smaller meals a day. We should also limit feeding our pets, especially the smaller ones with human food as these pets may suffer vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

]]>

Another set of care tips: pets also need grooming. This includes bathing and occasional checking of external parasites such as fleas. Unlike humans, these pets have different body textures so one must purchase a different soap intended for them, as generic soap brands used by pet owners might pose certain irritabilities to pets.

It is advisable to see a veterinarian if your pet is sick or injured. Pets need full check-up, shots and a heartworm blood test every year, and also administered some vaccinations to avoid contracting virus disease such as rabies. For a full health checklist, take into account of the pet's dental health, access to certain vaccinations, checking of external parasites, medication, and other important considerations. As suggested, one must seek a professional's help when our pet is sick and needs immediate assistance.

Pet security should also be taken into account. One must know the measures when pet security is put at risk by certain conditions, such as emergencies and disasters. To come up with a good pet security measure, one should follow certain measures such as disaster preparedness tips to avoid losing our beloved treasures. When disasters strike, we need to identify our pets with collars, and now being practiced by many is the use of microchips. Collars (especially for dogs) should display your name, telephone number, and an emergency contact. While collars can become lost due to certain conditions, microchips are a secure means of assuring that your pet is identified with an electronic device that is painlessly implanted in your pet's shoulder area. This way, owners can have increased chances of retrieving their pets. Other disaster preparedness measures include evacuation supplies, evacuation stickers, and emergency support system.

It would be good if the dogs joint are flexible lifetime. But as happens to us, your joints become stiff as they get older, especially due to arthritis, a painful condition that occurs when the cartilage of joints is weakened. There are several types of arthritis but the most common is osteoarthritis. "The cartilage will deteriorate over time, as the eyes and skin," Some young dogs also suffer from arthritis due to injury or infection or diseases such as hip dysplasia, which is an irregular separation of the joints. However, in most cases the arthritis affects older dogs.

Arthritis is potentially serious, and dogs who suffer need vet care. But in most cases you can control or alleviate the pain and stiffness using simple home remedies. In addition, there are many ways to protect the joints when the dog is still young.

Eliminate stiffness

Massage your hips, elbows, back, neck and knees for a few minutes each day to improve blood flow and maintain flexible muscles and joints. The massage should be consistent. Exert pressure with the fingertips on the areas around the joints. In doing so, make all kinds of movements with the legs. This warm up day will prevent the onset of arthritis, but also to alleviate the pain if you already have it.

Keep active

Dogs with arthritis would rather be lying on the carpet to run around the garden. But regular exercise is very important because it stimulates the body to secrete a fluid that lubricates joints. "Exercise also strengthens the muscles near the joints, which prevents the arthritis worse," says Dr. Fortney. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise because it has little pressure on painful joints. Although it is well, take it out for walks several times a day. Take short walks and days that are more flexible, a little longer. Do not overdo it, because their joints can swell even more.

]]>

Ducks to water

If you love water, swimming is good exercise, allowing you to perform all kinds of movements of joints and muscles and the water reduces pressure on the joints.

Watch your dog's weight

Dogs that are overweight are more prone to arthritis than those who are thin. And for those who already have it, a few extra kilos may pose greater pressure on joints, leading to wear out faster. Besides the additional exercise, the only way to lose weight is to give less food. Dr. Tate recommended reducing by 10% to 20%. If anything has lost after two or three weeks, reduce it a little more food. If you continue to be overweight, ask your veterinarian to begin a weight loss plan more severe.

His weight gain is due not only to the food you put in the container. Most of us take our dogs plenty of quirks, from dog biscuits to leftovers, and these extra calories are reflected immediately. No need to stop pampering, but reduce those extras. To give it a quarter of a biscuit instead of a whole. Or try to replace these vagaries by other low-calorie foods, such as raw carrots.

Let dog's sleep in a comfortable

All dogs like to sleep in a comfortable, but for those with arthritis becomes a necessity. This doctor recommended buying orthopedic bed foam, sold in pet stores and catalogs. Furthermore, since arthritis is aggravated by cold, it put in a comfortable and warm.

Cover

The coat keeps the dog warm. But when your joints hurt and does a little cold, you should put a sweater or coat for dogs. These will provide a little more warmth and insulation, so keep your joints flexible. Put your plate high. Dogs will not let arthritis get upset at the time of meals, but in some cases bending to eat can cause pain and stiffness in the neck. Some dogs are too rigid to reach their vessels. To make things easier, avoid putting food containers and water on the floor, placing, for example, on a low chair. Or buy special container large dog arthritis.

Take a hand

What is frustrating is that of arthritis, but the pain goes away for a while, always comes back. To make your dog more comfortable when suffering these pains, try to help. For example, put a ramp near the stairs or help when you try to stand up in the morning.

Provide relief

Veterinarians often recommend treating the pain of arthritis with an aspirin. The usual dose is 125 mg per 5 kg of weight, once or twice a day. Consult your veterinarian before giving it. Give aspirin mixed with food. It is preferable that it is effervescent as the normal can be heavy for your stomach.

Try applying a natural alternative

The glucosamine has proved very useful for treating arthritis. It has undergone many scientific tests, but besides not knowing any side effects, regenerate cartilage in joints and relieve pain and inflammation. It can be purchased at health food stores, in catalogs by mail or at the vet.

Important Health Tips For Dogs to Keep Them Happy, Playful and Happy

If you're looking for health tips for dogs, then you know that diet, exercise and proper supplementation is just as important for pets as it is for humans. In this article, you'll learn about three important steps that you can make into part of a daily routine that will make a big difference in your dog's health.

First, let's talk about dog food. Most pet owners do not realize that they may be feeding their dog unhealthy food that robs them of their energy and lowers their immunity. To keep dogs healthy, good food is the first line of defense against disease. This means that it is critical to read the ingredients label on the kibble that you feed your dog. If you see ingredients like meat byproducts, cheap grains like corn meal and preservatives and long chemical names that you cannot easily pronounce, then you may want to consider feeding your pet a different brand.

Since dogs are carnivores, the first ingredient on the label should be some kind of meat. The food should also contain vitamins, minerals and healthy oils like the kind that comes from ground flax seeds. If you are feeding your pet kibble, make sure to moisten it with some broth or water. This is one of the most important health tips for dogs to ensure that your dog enjoys good urinary tract health.

]]>

Next, make sure that your dog always has a big clean bowl of water. I can't tell you how many pet water bowls that I've seen that have a greenish cast because while the water has been replenished, the bowl itself hasn't been scrubbed clean in a while. Since there are lots of chemicals in city-treated water that can adversely your pet, one way to keep dogs healthy is to install a tap filter. This way, both you and your dog can drink water that is free of chemicals and will do its job to hydrate and flush toxins from the body.

The actions of good food and good clean water are boosted by a supplement that contains natural anti-inflammatories and antioxidants that heighten immunity, increase energy and help your dog to feel strong and healthy. Look for a formulation that contains proven herbs including Milk Thistle, Cat's Claw and Echinacea. Giving a daily supplement is one of the best and most effective health tips for dogs that you can take.

The gift of health is something that we can give our dogs by providing them with clean, chemical-free water, healthy food and a daily supplement to reduce toxins and boost immunity and vitality. Get started on a program today. Doesn't your dog deserve to lead a happy, healthy life?

There are many aspects involved with dog care and making sure you cover them all can be daunting. Dogs are subject to allergies but they catch them from the air. Proper allergy care involves not only treating the symptoms but also prevention. You should bath your dog regularly and rinse their feet after they have been outside to remove any allergens on your dog's skin.

Dog dental care can also be done at home and is very easy but also critical to your dogs health. Proper dental care provides for more than clean breath, it also keeps your dogs organs healthy as bacterial buildup on the teeth can spread throughout your pets whole system and cause illness and disease.

As with your own dental care you only need a few tools in order to care for your dog's teeth, these are dental clens solution, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental treats or toys or a dental cleaning dog kit. It may take your dog a few days or even weeks to get used to the dental care procedure but their teeth and gums will be much healthier and not have as many problems as before.

Ear care is particularly important for dogs, especially during the summer. A build up of moisture in the ear canals can cause problems as well as favorable conditions for ear infections. There are many products that can be used to care for your dogs ears including ear powders to keep ears dry, ear miticide to kill ear mites and other ear cleaning solutions that rinse away dirt and loosens waxy build up.

Keeping your dogs eyes clean is also important as this can prevent infections. The most common eye infection for dogs is conjunctivitis. To prevent infections you should use eye cleaning solutions or protective ointments that protect eyes from irritation as well as killing bacteria. You can trim hair from around your pet's eyes to prevent infection, make sure the corners of their eyes are mucous free, and try to keep your pets away form activities or surroundings where they may get eye trauma. When doing any cleaning or cutting around your dogs eyes, you want to use the utmost care so as to avoid poking your dog in the eye!

As your dog ages there is some additional dog care needs that you should be aware of. Your dog should still exercise but at a lower intensity and for shorter periods of time. Older dogs should use a foam bed to protect their joints when sleeping. You should also take advantage of senior dog food as it will contain important vitamins and nutrients that older dogs may need more of. As dogs age you need to keep a closer eye out for changes in behavior as these can be signs of problems. You should take your dog to the vet as soon as you notice any changes.
