Great Scott! Adam seals it in Singapore

Many people questioned why Adam Scott was made favourite to win the Singapore Open this weekend.

Understandable, as the Australian has only one once this year (Mizuno MX-1000 Irons) - and that was preceded by a two-year title drought.

But the 30-year-old is very popular in Asia and has a good record on the continent, having already claimed this title in 2005 and 2006.

"It's a new experience for me as it's the first time (Mizuno MP-68 Irons) I've won three times," he said.

"I'm very proud to win the National Open and these are the kind of events that you dream of winning when you're growing up as a kid.

"It's been a long week and it was a bit of a grind this morning. It's not an easy back nine to come out and play and I didn't make it look that easy either, so I'm just happy to be done and be the (Mizuno MP-52 Irons) winner again."

]]>

Scott faced stiff competition at the Sentosa Golf Club as defending champion Ian Poulter seemed hell-bent on retaining his title before heavy rain forced the tournament into a Monday finish.

The Adelaide man led by three shots with ten to go when play resumed on Monday, but tried his best to throw it away with bogeys at ten and 14.

"I haven't been putting my best lately and the demons starting creeping in a little bit on the back nine," continued the former world number three.

"But fortunately I squashed them and made a good putt on 15. That gave me a little buffer and calmed me down for the last three.

"The 15th was a huge hole. I hit the ball beautifully and I hit every shot where I needed it to be."

And just like Wimbledon in 2001, the overnight delay proved costly for England's best hope, and Poulter looked a different man as he dropped a shot at the 12th before (Mizuno Mx-200 Irons) double-bogeying the par-4 15th to finish six shots off the pace.

Dane Anders Hansen (68), Graeme McDowell (70) and Swede Rikard Karlberg (67) all leapfrogged Poulter, who finished fifth, on the back nine.

The win moves Scott from 41st to 20th in the world rankings, while McDowell slides up a spot to ninth, dropping good friend Rory McDowell to tenth.

With the right tools and techniques, Great Dane training can really be fun and rewarding! You see, I have a Great Dane called Marshmallow and I can't begin to tell you how hard it was to train him.

When I brought him to my place for the first time, here's one of the first things he did: He peed on my favorite sofa!

So, I looked up online for some dog crate training tips. I followed the methods to the letter for about 3 weeks with little progress.

So one day, I was browsing through a video sharing site and came upon this really cool dog training video. I followed the link at the bottom of the video, and found a downloadable step-by-step manual on how to shape desirable behaviors in dogs using clicker as a training tool.

Click here to take a look at the course.

So I downloaded the course and followed the outlined steps. Well, guess what?

]]>

My Great Dane training became a lot easier! Without a doubt, for me, clicker training is the greatest way to train your dog.

t's all a matter of using the proper conditioned reinforcer methods to get your Great Dane to perform habits that are desirable.

Alright listen, here's are some clicker tips for your Great Dane training

(1)  Charging a clicker is necessary in order to make your dog respond better. Clicker charging is basically a method of introducing your dog to the clicker in a gradual and precise fashion. It's a vital process especially in the early stages of training.

(2)   In order to improve your dog's obedience training, be sure to conduct some target stick exercises every week. If your Great Dane can master the target stick contact at every command, then you can instruct him to go in any direction you wish. My Marshmallow is getting the hang of it as he enjoys this type of exercise.

(3)  It is vital that you click with precision. See, you need to observe your dog carefully during training and when he performs a desirable behavior, click the clicker at the exact moment. And then simply offer the treat to him.

Your dog will learn a particular habit a lot quicker if you are able to click and deliver the treat in a precise manner.

Like I said, Great Dane training can be fun and rewarding, especially if you have a systematic step-by-step guide to refer to. Follow the steps outlined in this clicker course to uncover lots of training examples and plans for 30 different dog behaviors.

It's easy to follow and you will see results in a few weeks provided you practice as often as possible.

Before we even start talking about great dane training I want you to know the breed to some extent. They are very smart, love kids, are very affectionate and make great pets. They are not big barkers, they need a lot of exercise are very dependable, reliable and trustworthy. This makes for a great breed to train, you want too at a young age because they get big fast.

A Great Dane I will start training as young as two months old - the younger the better. Socialize him to other places, people and dogs and once he is comfortable with you and his new home, you are ready to start training. Make sure and show him you are the master. He needs to respect you not fear you, this will go along way in your training.

First put his big check chain on the collar and then his leash. Now your ready to start great dane training. Just start walking him if he tries to take the lead turn immediately and snap his leash. This will keep him paying attention. If he tries to walk behind you snap him forward encouraging him. When you stop walking pull straight up on his leash and at the same time push down on his rear with your left hand. When he does this correctly praise him to let him know he did it right. Praise goes a long way in your dogs maturing in obedience. When teaching him the "down" command, say "drop" and immediately snap his leash to the ground while pushing his rear down. In a short period of time he will drop immediately. He will catch onto this fast.

Now to get him to get an object and hold it until you say "give," here is what you do. Put the object in front of his mouth and say "take it" while slowly opening his mouth and placing the object behind his fangs. Only do this for five seconds. Now, holding his mouth shut say "hold." If he tries to get rid of the object, immediately close his mouth and say "hold." Now have him sit by your left side and throw the object out five to ten feet and say "take it." As he grabs the object and is walking to you say "hold" and when he gets to you, push on his rear to make him sit in front of you. What happens is in time you will say "take it" and he will run out, grab the article and hold it and sit in front of you, and only give you the article when you say give. This is just a few things you can do with great dane training. I am sure you and your big buddy will enjoy all there is to learn have fun!

Ten Things To Consider Before Getting Your Great Dane Home

So you’ve picked out your Great Dane and are getting ready to bring it into your home. There are a few things to consider before your new family member comes through the front door, and hopefully you’ve thought about a few of these things before choosing this breed of dog.

1.Do you want to “crop” your Great Danes ears? If you are going to be professionally showing your dog, or training them to hunt wild boar (which is what they were bred to do in the 1800’s), you may want to crop the ears, otherwise, don’t as the procedure can be painful and costly.

2.Large breed dogs don’t live as long as the smaller breeds and the Great Dane has an average lifespan of six to eight years, though some have been known to live for 13 years. You will be committed to this dog for its life.

3.Your Great Dane will need to have some room to stretch out. They will need to be walked on a regular basis. They are usually inactive indoors, but need floor space or you will end up with a very big lap dog.

4.They aren’t suited for living outdoors, so keep them out of the cold and away from the hot sun. They lack the insulating properties that other breeds have.

]]>

5.Do you have the right lifestyle and living requirements to house and care for a Great Dane? A Great Dane can live in an apartment if it is taken out regularly and has a moderately sized area to call their own. They don’t like to be left alone for long periods, so if you are a work-aholoic, you will need a dog sitter or walker, or other family member to make up for your absence.

6.Puppy or dog proofing your home for the arrival of a Great Dane leaves a little more to consider than your average dog. Keep things to the rear of or off of counters. They have whip like tails, so keep breakables off of tables. Clear out some floor space for play and interaction without fear of destruction.

7.The bigger the dog, the more they need to eat. Great Danes will need to eat a lot and that can become expensive. Also, you will need to lift all of those big bags of food and have a place to store the food.

8.Although Great Danes can maintain their own weight when their food is left out all day, it is recommended to introduce them to a feeding schedule (especially if your Great Dane is a rescue). You do not want your Great Dane to become overweight as this can cause back, hip, knee and elbow problems.

9.Great Danes need attention and often miss their family when they go away. Separation anxiety can manifest in barking, whining, digging and other destructive behaviors. If these behaviors begin to appear, you may need to get professional puppy training or learn crate training and other techniques to lessen the damage.

10.Finally, grooming. Although Great Danes are easier to maintain than other breeds, they will shed, so they need to be brushed regularly. Bath time can be a huge chore, so be prepared for a workout. It’s best to train them to get into the tub on their own and enjoy the bath. Also, their toe nails grow fairly quickly and will need to be trimmed more often than other breeds, so get them used to having their feet held.
